An exhibition of art inspired by futuristic or historical elements
Explore the concept of Time Warp through visual art. How do we perceive the passage of time through different eras? Delve into the contrast between the 1960s moon landing and the imagined future of Mars colonization in the 21st century… Reflect on how art has evolved from the 1990s at Gallery X to now, and project into the future…
What does Time Warp mean to you?
Think Historical vs. Futuristic Materials: Use materials from the 60s like vinyl for a retro-futuristic feel, contrasting with modern tech-inspired materials like LED lights or 3D printing.
Cultural Shifts: Capture the cultural zeitgeist of different decades through art. How has the depiction of space changed from the hopeful innocence of the ’60s to today’s more complex scientific narratives?
Artistic Techniques: Explore techniques that were cutting-edge in the ’90s versus now. Think of how digital art has transformed from pixel art to AI-generated images.
Time as a Medium: Consider how time itself can be a material in art. Think about decay, growth, or the ephemeral nature of moments captured in your work.
We welcome submissions from artists working in any medium, you do not have to be a member of Gallery X to participate! Interested artist may bring their artwork fitting the theme of Time Warp to Gallery X during regular gallery hours or by appointment from Friday, April 4 through Sunday, April 13.
