We are here to celebrate our ancestors and elders, call attention to our present, and dream of our collective futures. We invite art inspired by chosen family–friends, lovers, elders, community–the connections that give us hope and bring queer joy to our lives.
Artists wishing to submit pieces for inclusion in this exhibition are welcome to bring their art to Gallery X during regular gallery hours, or by appointment. The deadline to submit is ________ so don’t delay! Thanks to New Bedford Creative the submission of artwork will be free to all self-identified Queer and/or BIPOC artists.
The Answering Our Ancestors exhibition will coincide with June Pride celebrations in the area, including an accompanying exhibition in the GX Main Gallery entitled, Being Seen: Celebrating SouthCoast Pride produced by Massachusetts Design Art & Technology Institute, DATMA. Submission Guidelines and Info
This is a non-juried show, all artists and media are welcome.
• Submission Fees: FREE for Queer and/or BIPOC artists (self-identified). All other non-member submissions are 50% off; $7.50 for the first piece submitted, $5 for each additional piece, maximum of 5 pieces. As always GX members submit work for free!
• All forms of media are accepted; 2D, 3D, photography and video art welcome!
• All work must be ready to hang and include proper hanging attachments (wire, sawtooth hanger, etc.). Pedestals are available for any three dimensional work.
• Gallery X handles all sales and retains a 35% commission on any sale made by non-members. Members are subject to 25% commission on works sold. Works do not have to be for sale to be included in the exhibition.

Looking to save time? Print your submission slips ahead of time and have everything ready to go when you bring in your artwork! Please note if you are printing your own submission slip you must use the file below and bring 2 copies to the gallery (1 that will be attached to the piece and a 2nd that is given to the gallery attendant).
No printer? No worries… We have printed submission slips ready and waiting in the gallery!
