ALL MY KINFOLK: Queer Ancestors and Chosen Family
To reclaim our history, we seek representations of queer ancestors: icons like queer labor activist Dr. Marie Equi and lesser known or imagined figures whose stories have been lost.
To celebrate our present and future, we invite art inspired by chosen family–friends, lovers, elders, community–the connections that give us hope and life.
Beginning May 15, artists wishing to submit pieces for inclusion in this exhibition are welcome to bring their art to Gallery X during regular gallery hours, or by appointment. The deadline to submit is Monday, May 27 so don’t delay! Thanks to New Bedford Creative and the Queer Arts Council the submission of artwork will be free to all self-identified Queer and/or BIPOC artists, all other submissions by non-member artists are 50% off! All My Kinfolk will be on view across both gallery spaces alongside our Black Music Month exhibition.
Submission Guidelines and Info
This is a non-juried show, all artists and media are welcome.
• Submission Fees: FREE for Queer and/or BIPOC artists (self-identified). All other non-member submissions are 50% off; $7.50 for the first piece submitted, $5 for each additional piece, maximum of 5 pieces. As always GX members submit work for free!
• All forms of media are accepted; paintings, photography, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, etc.
• All work must be ready to hang and include proper hanging attachments (wire, sawtooth hanger, etc.). Pedestals are available for sculptures, three dimensional work, or jewelry.
• Gallery X handles all sales and retains a 35% commission on any sale made by non-members. Members are subject to 25% commission on works sold. Works do not have to be for sale to be included in the exhibition.

Looking to save time? Print your submission slips ahead of time and have everything ready to go when you bring in your artwork! Please note if you are printing your own submission slip you must use the file below and bring 2 copies to the gallery (1 that will be attached to the piece and a 2nd that is given to the gallery attendant).
